        Great overall family hauler!

        Hello. A 23 year seasoned automotive repair professional here. Overall, this platform is very posh yet has that ‘truck toughness’, if and when you need it. Tows well and the rear locker certainly does its job, and is good at it. As well as the factory built in trailer brake. The MPG isn’t the greatest at 22 HWY/17 CITY (personal average) but you don’t buy this sort of vehicle for the fuel economy. It’s luxury, brawn, fit/finish and material durability don’t necessarily need ‘THE BEST LARGE SUV FUEL ECONOMY’ title. Leave that to the throw away over seas manufactures and other domestics that have made me a great living. 😉 Performance is above average. Very crisp and surprisingly quick acceleration for a vehicle of its size. (Coming from a previous owner of a 9 sec. 1/4 mile C6 Z06) The transmission is smooth with power delivery and with shifting. Like anything and any other vehicle, fluid maintenance is your friend here. Make sure the differentials, transfer case, engine coolant, brake fluid, trans filter and trans fluid drain and fills are done accordingly, like and when GM advises and you will see many miles, with no anxiety. Regular alignment checks are advised to keep those big 22” tires from shaving away at your wallet. I would recommend a fuel management disabler or a complete mechanical removal of it and switching out of the 0w20 oil, for longevity. 0w20 is not ideal for a big 6.2 V8 with the stresses it’s designed to take on. That’s where the ‘bad rep’ comes from. GM, like every auto manufacturer is required to have a mandatory average ‘MPG’ across the board, amongst all models. Thinner oil is part of what achieved that average with this truck for reasons unknown. I use Mobil 0w40 Supercar, ya know, the C8 ZR1/Z06 oil from the factory that flows and protects during a solid 12 hour race, at places like Sebring raceway? No real complaints from a Large 4WD Luxury SUV. (I’m referencing the 6.2 L86 V8, as that’s what I have)…

        With the 6.3 engine it has more power than I will ever need great modern leather! It has 120,0000 mile runs like a top we change the oil regularly and it rides as good as our Cadillac did! It probably needs shocks about now but this has been a great truck!…
