      Practical and Classy

      by J g on 5/12/2026 7:30:04 AM

I've driven many vehicles from family style suvs to luxury sports cars. This thing hits the sweet spot for luxury, being fun, and practicality. The look is controversial, at first I thought I didn't like it. But after sometime I became so used to the funky style that I started to like it's quirkiness. Mine is a darker metallic red with black trim and bronze accents. Very unique combination that stands out. The size of the vehicle is large enough for luggage and passengers for road trips, and is the perfect size to be comfortable as a daily driver. I have the dynamic handling package that has rear active steering which helps the vehicle be capable of making sharper turns, makes this long wheel base feel like a much smaller vehicle than it is. Easy to park, flip a u turn etc. The ride is comfortable with the air ride suspension without having the bouncing effect like other air suspensions. It handles well in the mountains and curvy roads even with the 22 inch wheels. The awd system keeps this vehicle planted to the road at all times. The interior is made of very soft leather, mine is chestnut colored which is like an orangish brown with diamond stitching and crystal fixtures throughout the cabin. Materials are very high end, very little cabin noise even on the highway, and lots of tech! Unfortunately for 2022 they didn't add lumbar support or massage functions, so you can use them but none of your passengers can. The massage function is nothing to write home about anyways. Its not much of a massage, but it does help with preventing back pain on longer drives and road trips so it does help, it's just not much of a massage. The highway drivers assist is convenient, centers you in the road, steers and controls the acceleration and braking. But it is only hands free driving under 45mph on mapped roads, otherwise you always have to keep your hands on the wheel. But I love that the system works on all roads, even city streets when you have your hands on the steering wheel and the cruise control is set unlike some other brands which do not allow use on city streets like supercruise or blue cruise. If you are a small town city guy like myself, then my real world range is 370ish. If you are going all freeway 75+ then a little over 200 for the range. Regen braking works well and is adjustable through the infotainment screen. Theirs D and B from drive mode. D is light regen but more of coasting, B is a much higher regen that will act as one pedal driving. After getting used to it, I always drive in B now and it works perfect for city streets that have a lot of traffic. It also helps extend the range. There are different modes that change the ambient lighting according to the mode you select and they will also adjust the stiffness of the suspension, handling and efficiency. I always drive in efficiency to increase the amount of time between charging by maxing out the range. The vehicles range is significantly reduced with ac and heat like any other ev. The vehicle is very intuitive and will adjust predicted mileage based on driving habits, navigation details or use of draining items like ac etc and it's pretty accurate. This vehicle doesn't have just heated seats, it also has heated surfaces. So the arm rests on the center console and the doors also warm up. The Ventilated seats make the seats not hot, but you can really feel them like some of the other car brands like audi. Overall I would recommend this mid-sized suv. Its perfect size, handles beautifully, love the quirkiness, its fast like 4 sec 0-60 fast, and is very practical.

      Best Car I've Ever Owned

by Matthew on 10/27/2025 11:47:38 PM

I love the BMW iX. It's comfortable. It's spacious. It's easy and fun to drive. I've gotten more compliments on the iX than any car I've ever owned. The range is solid. The build quality is top-notch. I would like to know why the States and Feds want to tax us to death for these cars... and I wish I had known how quickly they would eat up tires (YIKES!).

      Wonderful SUV!

      by Jeff H on 3/3/2025 9:11:34 AM

I have previously owned a Tesla Model 3 Performance and a BMW X5. The IX is the best of both of them. It's a full-sized SUV with tons of interior room, a super-comfortable ride, and lots of amenities. But it's also an electric car, with plenty of zip to accelerate quickly, and an eco-smart mentality. Like the Tesla, you can use your phone to unlock and lock the IX, so you don't have to carry keys. And BMW says they'll complete an agreement with Tesla in late 2025 to use their supercharger network. (If you have a Tesla home charger, you can order an inexpensive Tesla-to-J1772 adapter and charge your BMW at home.) The only down-side that I can see is the price; it's a large, quality vehicle, and it's not cheap. But I've found that you can find one and two year old IX's at BMW dealerships at a big discount. In summary, among luxury SUV's, the BMW IX is an expensive but outstanding choice. The SUV's in this class (at the time I'm writing this) include: The Rivian R1S (which is really long, and wouldn't fit in my garage!), the Tesla Cybertruck (but I didn't want teenagers laughing at me), the Porsche Macan (which is outstanding but even more expensive), the Mercedes GLS, and the new Volvo and Polestar SUV's (which aren't out yet).
